Chilca, Peru

Spence and another guy from church were given the task of digging a hole to replace some plumbing pipes. After they had dug up to their knees (or even further - depending on height), another team member approached with quite a sheepish look on his face. Turns out they had been told the wrong place to dig! They had to fill in the hole and dig under where they had put all the dirt from the first hole!! This picture isn't of Spence, but gives you an idea of their job.

They are in the town of Chilca, Peru where there is a small Presbyterian church. The team has been working on putting a new roof on the church and helping with some new plumbing. They will return early Friday morning. I think the bricks and drawn lines in the dirt are for kickball? I'm not sure.

Spence in Peru

I've been able to talk to Spence several times on the phone - thanks to one team member's international cell phone and another's Skype account.

He was telling me that all the kids think that the team members are very ignorant because they can't speak Spanish. He is brushing off his rusty Spanish, which was sketchy to start with! This picture shows him trying to communicate with some of the children.

They are having a good time and will be going back to the same group again tomorrow.

I'll post more photos as I get them.

It's a toy! It's a doll! It's a BABY!!

Well, the girls have been at it again - mostly Caroline! They did the same thing to poor William and he survived, so I guess Winston will too. :)

He was just about to fall asleep in the stroller until I came home from the grocery store and took these pictures.

I'm sure Katy never guessed that the doll stroller she brought the girls from Germany would be put to this use!

Two Months Old

I actually remembered to take the picture on the RIGHT DAY this month! It is hard to believe that it has already been two months. Winston is smiling all the time and starting to "ooch." That's my lingo for scooting himself around the floor on his tummy. He uses his feet to push himself forward. He only does this when he's out of sorts, but he can go pretty far! We are all having fun making him smile and trying to make him laugh - and having "conversations" with him. I realized that we have the perfect "gauge" to keep track of his growth. We are going to put him on the quilt Sarah made him and watch how he fills out the squares each month.

Peach Picking

We went down to Hollonville, Ga - not far from where our lot is - and picked peaches and blueberries. The peaches are ripening on our living room floor and the blueberries are in our freezer. We rewarded ourselves for all our "hard work" by indulging in some homemade peach ice cream.

Something went wrong with Sarah's camera and they ended up with pink-tinted legs. You get the idea, though. :)

'Aah' conversation with Caroline

Winston has found his voice and really likes "talking" to us. Sorry that it is sideways, we'll do better next time.

Future Soccer Players

Perhaps a better title would be "Future Football Players" especially since they are both in British uniforms - Thanks to Dawn and CoCo! :) Winston's kit says it's 3-6 months, but I think it will take him a little longer than that to fit into it. We'll take a picture of him in it on the first of every month so we can see how he grows.

Go Chelsea!!
