Craft Project

Hey everyone!!! Last fall, I went to Charlotte, NC to visit my Aunt Katy and her family. She and I made crafts together. One of which included switch/outlet covers. A few days ago I decided to make some on my own. I went to Michael's and got some paper. We just happened to have the sprays we need, and I zoomed away making them. It didn't take very long to make them. The instructions are easy so I will put them on here.

What you need:
  1. Decorative paper...not cardstock
  2. Adhesive Spray Glue
  3. Crystal Clear Glaze
  4. Scissors
  5. Switch/outlet cover
  6. Utility Knife
Instructions:
  1. Trace the paper a little (1/8 in) outside the cover.
  2. Cut the paper
  3. Take the cut paper outside and spray the paper with the adhesive spray (medium coat)
  4. Center the cover on the paper and press down
  5. Cut the corners to a 45 degree angle
  6. Press the edges of paper on the cover
  7. Cut a X in the hole (where the switch/outlet goes)
  8. Fold the 'X's' in
  9. Take outside and spray with glaze (medium coat)
  10. Let dry
  11. Enjoy your pretty cover

Big Business Buddies

My friend, Haley, goes to KONOS and she had to write a paper about who she would have as a business partner. She decided to write about me. I really like the paper and wanted to put it on here (yes, she said I could put it on the blog). At the end of the paper she put a picture from a few years back of her, her brothers, Tyler and Hunter, and me. I was at her house for her B-day and we had chocolate fondue and we put it on our faces:) I love you Haley:)!

Choosing a Partner for Running a Business

            Running a business is an important responsibility.  It requires both self-motivation and teamwork to run a business with a partner.  Choosing a partner can be a difficult task.  Just because an individual is your friend or family does not mean that person would make a good business partner.  Good business partners must be people of integrity, seeking the good of others before themselves.  Philippians 4:8-9 gives a great list of qualities for business and also for life.  It states:
Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me- put it into practice.  And the God of peace will be with you.

            The individual that I would choose as my business partner would be Miss Sarah Gray.  First and foremost, Sarah is a Christian.  She seeks to serve God first in her life.  She displays integrity by working independently at home on her schoolwork.  She is a loyal friend, even when others have been unkind to me.  She is trustworthy.  When she makes a promise, she keeps it.  Often, Sarah is given the responsibility to watch over her younger siblings.  She not only takes care of them, but she also does the task with a happy heart.  Ms. Gray enjoys new challenges and new opportunities.  During the summer, I asked for her help in serving the elderly from our church.  Sarah came willingly and helped wherever needed.  She assisted by pushing the vacuum cleaner, making sandwiches, designing lunch bags, and greeting the people.   She is very creative.  Sarah is able to find things to do, even with just a paper clip.  She is enjoyable to be around.  She has a great sense of humor, and she loves to have a good time while working. 
            Both Sarah and I have had the opportunity to work closely together on many occasions.  We have been able to work through disagreements in the past very quickly and without any hurt feelings.  We both enjoy serving others for God’s glory.  We especially enjoy sewing together; and of course, laughing.  Ms. Gray will be moving approximately 30 minutes from my home.  A foreseen difficulty might be the ability to find a location to run our business where we can both meet. 
            Sarah is a great example of a Proverbs 31 woman.  She eagerly works with her fingers as she sews pillowcases and purses for others.  She works vigorously as she cooks for her family.  She opens her arms to her little brother and extends an arm to her mother when needed.  She speaks with wisdom as she proceeds in life.  She quotes Scripture faithfully.  As Proverbs 31:30 states, “Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”  Sarah seeks to honor God.  What better person could I have as my big business buddy!

Sunset

These photos are looking toward the East.  The sunset lit up the clouds into a beautiful pink color.  It was gorgeous!





Mud Pies, Anyone?

If you're going to live in the "country," you might as well enjoy some country pursuits, like playing in the mud!




 William and Sarah spent about 2 hours throwing mud at one another this afternoon.


They were both caked in mud by the time all the fun was over.

William decided that he had better dam up the water that flows out of the storm sewers.  He was very intent on his job and would hardly look up!


Caroline on the other hand, took a break from her sunbathing to grace the camera with her face!

 Winnie really likes the outdoors. As you can see in this picture, he really likes his bellybutton too.

pic 3,4,5- you can see the wood flooring- daddy has not put flooring down in the kids bathroom yet. I think that the toilet is more important than flooring:)

Trip to California February 2011

The other day I was at the old house with Daddy and he asked me to clean the stove off so that we could take a picture for craigs list. The burners were dusty and I drew my name and a heart on them.
